It is very cold in Yellowstone National Park in the winter. To find food, bison must dig deep through the snow to get some grass. The snow sticks to their large faces creating masks that give the bison a mysterious look. I observed this lone bison for a long time, he kept eating with its head in the snow. I didn’t know how much longer I could stay outside as my hands were freezing through my gloves. Finally he raised its head and I got this shot of its charismatic face.
