Breaching Whale

From Jonah’s sabbatical in the belly of the whale to the classic tale of Moby Dick, whales have been the subject of awe and human speculation for eons. But just how many of us have ever actually seen a whale underwater in real life?

I love to photograph wildlife and nature in its amazing diversity like this Humpback whale in the Silver Banks of the Dominican Republic. We don’t know for sure why whales breach (jump): it could be a way for males to compete , or it may be a form of communication or to scare or warn of possible threats. It is in any case a spectacular display of nature!
