The incredible power of nature. What is more frightening than liquid lava erupting from the earth? The stuff of legends that destroyed mighty cities like Pompéi is still present in countless volcanoes around the globe. Here an up close view at lava erupting in Mount Yasur on the island of Tanna in the island nation of Vanuatu. The glow of the volcano attracted captain Cook who was the first European on the island in 1774. Standing on the rim of the 400m (1200 ft) crater I could feel the warm wind generated by each successive eruption!
