A portrait of The Galapagos giant tortoise. Capable of living well over 100 years they develop unique wrinkles and spots I feel black & white is a good way to show the texture of the tortoise skin. The giant tortoise is one of the most iconic animals found in the Galapagos. It is the largest tortoise on earth with adults weighing up to 900 pounds (400 kg). Now protected they were decimated by sailors taking them for food on their ships. As they can live up to a year without food they offered a source of fresh meat for boats making long crossings.
