The Jump

Chinstrap penguins typically jump in the water in groups. They will prepare themselves for several minutes, standing on the shore, waiting for the ideal moment. Maybe ensuring that they see no predator in the water. When they finally move they jump quickly each following the one in front which I illustrated in this image. Chinstrap penguins are threatened by climate change which decreases the amount of krill on which the chinstrap feed. Deception Island, Antarctica.
